There is one moment that sells **offline AI** better than any feature list. Put your phone in airplane mode, open a chat, ask a question, and the answer shows up anyway. Nothing left your device and no server ever saw your prompt, because the model is right there on your phone doing the work.

## What you need

Getting there takes one choice and one download:

1. Pick a model
2. Download the model file

On iPhone, that file is usually between **one and a few gigabytes**. In Offeline you pick a model from the built-in marketplace, it downloads in the background, and after that everything runs on your phone.

You only need internet to grab a new model. Chat works on a flight, in a tunnel, anywhere.

## Speed is the real tradeoff

People expect the tradeoff to be quality, but the real tradeoff is **speed**. A modern iPhone runs a small model just fine, and for writing messages, summarizing text, or planning something, the answers are good.

What changes is how fast the reply comes, since a big model on an old phone will crawl. Start **smaller than you think you need**, because a fast model you use every day beats a big one you stop using when every reply takes a minute.

You can switch models any time, and it's only a download.

## Watch storage

Model files are big and they sit on your phone like any other file. If space is tight:

- keep **one solid general model**
- delete the ones you stopped using

Deleting a model is clean and easy, so trying things out costs nothing.

## Privacy that actually holds

What you get back is privacy that cloud services can't match no matter what they promise:

- **no account**
- **no chat history on a server**
- **no policy you have to trust**

Your conversations never leave the device, so there is nothing to leak and nothing to read. For personal writing, health questions, or anything you'd rather keep to yourself, that is a real guarantee, not a promise in a settings page.

## Try it

Running AI offline on iPhone stopped being a demo a while ago. Download a model in Offeline, turn on airplane mode, and see for yourself.
